Cumbrian Wars
One of Xekko's favourite projects is Cumbrian Wars - an online text-based role playing game where you take on the persona of a Jam Eater.
In this strategy game, every 15 minutes you receive soldiers to help attack and defend your base and money to spend on upgrades for the base. You can forge alliances with other players to further grow your armies and share intelligence as well as teaming up to attack your enemies. The winner of the game - which runs for a month or so at a time - is the one that has the best stategy of their abilities.
Cumbrian Wars originally ran from 2004 to 2007 and, at the time, carried more than 1,000 online players from all across the world. For a small game created from a school coursework project, it was constantly busy. It was popularly known for its fun, humour and exciting final battles.
In 2011, work started on Cumbrian Wars - Rise of the Jam Eaters. This is a massive overhaul of the original coding used to create the game and it will feature across all platforms - with the ability to play online, via Facebook or on a mobile/tablet device. It's no mean feat though and work is continuing to complete the game.
Easily Playable
Making Cumbrian Wars fun to play means providing an easy-to-use interface for people to play with - just part of the challenge of remaking the classic game.
Constant Threat
Just like the old days, waking up early to save your money from being stolen by other players will be back - and worse than ever. Just part of the fun from Cumbrian Wars!
